A Brief On RPM Discs

RPM Discs comes from some of the leading disc golf brands. So what makes RPM Discs Golf discs so unique?

While a larger majority of discs today are large, bulky (5lbs or more) heavy plastic discs, RPM has made significant progress in developing a smaller diameter, lighter plastic that is better for the game. With over years of research and development in the science of airflow, the manufacturing engineers at RPM have mastered the art of producing a smaller, more dense plastic that will not add additional drag on shots but rather allows the player a greater amount of glide. This provides a smoother flight path and allows the player more realistic expectations regarding their score.

Another essential feature of RPM discs, which are not found on oversize, overstable discs, is the dimpled surface. This adds another dimension of controlled airflow, allowing the player more control while learning how to throw their shots. The dimpled surface also helps the player has a better grip on the disc. When a player begins to get comfortable with their new throw, they can begin using their fingers to guide their wrist and arm motion instead of using their dominant hand. This helps them build strength and agility and develops the skill of timing their throw to perfection. In addition, many professional disc golfers in the country rely on new discs to develop their game.

RPM plastics are very durable and versatile. They have the velocity and stability of regular full-range plastic discs, but they do not have the weight. RPM has developed various putter sizes, including a driver that is one inch in width and five pounds in weight, which they refer to as a “galaxy line.” They also offer a midrange putter that is one inch in width and three pounds in weight, referred to as a “Cosmic Plastic Putter.” Finally, the most popular RPM disc, the seven-piece series, which offers five different sizes and two different speeds, is only three inches in width and five pounds in weight.

Many professionals in the sport of disc golf are impressed by the accuracy of these discs. “RPM discs fly straight and line up perfectly,” said Patrick Sandry, a seven-time world disc golfer. “They don’t have any seams or pits, which is something else that is impressive to me,” added Sandry. “The precision of the manufacturing on RPM is evident in the lower price they charge.” Sandry further explained that he prefers RPM over any other plastic types available today. “I would say they are the perfect disc for beginners just starting in disc golf.”
