When someone talks of a naturist, they might think of a person who is so in love with the countryside that they spend weeks among the trees and bushes with minimal supplies. While a naturist might enjoy these things, the term refers specifically to a person who sometimes struts about in the nude for the feeling of personal freedom it gives them.
Naturism is the term more frequently used in Britain while nudist is more common in the North American colonies. It amounts to a personal enthusiasm as well as a philosophy that arose over its hundred years of modern practice. That philosophy, if understood, can be expressed as a style of massage. A naturist massage is not necessarily a sexual act, although it does involve full-body nudity so that the skilled masseuse can access whatever fold of skin needs to pull or pressed.
A naturist believes it is good to be comfortable in the skin. There are a variety of reasons why ranging from the fact that people in the tropics skimp on clothing because they do not need them. If tropical people are happy being seen nude or half nude in public and accept this as natural, then this suggests that Western morals about full-body attire are somehow mistaken. The naturist wants to escape Victorian restraints and even today see it as liberating to be seen naked without shame.
Western people associate nudity with sex and often see a nude body as being in a position of sex. This does not have to be the case. Some people think it is natural to look at other people in the buff and just see them as human, wrinkles and moles and all. There is also something about a sense of comfort and minimalism in order to take a massage.
A newbie to massages might not want the entire length of their body exposed to another person’s eyes. Total nudity might not be for them. On the other hand, a person who has experienced many massages gets used to exposing themselves and might learn to totally trust a professional masseuse. A person who wants to take it to the next level might decide to hire one who is perfectly comfortable touching naked people in all sorts of positions and all the while being naked themselves.
Needless to say, it is not a common experience. There is a certain sense of victory in being able to participate in a naturist massage with perfect comfort. From a practical point of view, there is no barrier to skin contact, and the masseuse can massage with his hands or his elbows or whatever else is needed. It is a full-access massage, and every conceivable technique is on the table.
