To understand or even explain the Evolution of Visual Effects we need to know what it is and what better way than to do a quick Q and A?
WHEN WE SAY VISUAL EFFECTS WHAT DO WE MEAN?
Commonly shortened and used in this article as well as VFX of Evolution of Visual Effects is the art form and process that can describe a way of creating, altering or even just plain enhancing a movie scene or whole movie by adding imagery that cannot be shot on with the original scene of a movie’s live shooting.
WHEN DID THIS ENTIRE V F X “THING” BEGIN AND BY WHOM?
Back in eighteen fifty-seven, a gentleman with the name of Oscar Reilander created what was known to be the world’s first-ever “special effect” by printing a montaged combination of thirty-two negatives on one singular image, but in just 38 years later in eighteen ninety-five Mr. Alfred Clark created what up until today was commonly known as the first-ever special effect motion picture
WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT THIS V F X
Being in its most advanced stage of technological evolution today, V F X, is one of the most important tools used in movie making for a more realistic looking scene, whether its natural world, artificial world, imaginary, science fiction and or fantasy worlds, used in the scene and especially if a scene needs a sequence which can be dangerous for the performers, too expensive or impossible to destroy or just plain impossible to capture in any other way.
YOU GET SIX DIFFERENT TYPES OS V F X STYLES OF FILMING”
- Animation.
- Compositing.-the combination of different effects visually from separate sources but into a singular image
- Digital animation. Digital animation is an animation that involves a digital method of creation
- Matte painting.

- Simulation FX.
HOW IS V F X CREATED?
Most of these V F X are mechanically added visually to the movie or scene even with the use of puppets wires and even explosions of exact miniatures to create the exact effect required for that scene. It may even be added to simulate an epic battle scene or storm etc.
