Mental Health Coaching vs Treatment: This is a question that many people especially those of children with mental problems, have asked and want more information on.
Coaching is tended to be more on a non-medical and drug-free approach and in groups and done my an elder or trusted person whereas treatment as the word explains itself is medical professionals and usually one on one with medications and lots of it involved and or sometimes being locked up for you their own good.
So to understand the difference you have to understand what is Mental Health Coaching and the problems it can cause and this can lead you to know which to choose, coaching, or treatment.
THE MAIN TYPES OF MENTAL HEALTH AN PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH IT AND WHAT IS NEEDED:
- 1- DEPRESSION LEADING TO SUICIDE AND OR DRUG ABUSE: the state of depression is not only one of the most undiagnosed but is also the most underestimated disease globally and this is the reason why so many cases end in suicide,
This would be a case for treatment but depends on the level as a low-level depression by a person with a loving and supporting family can overcome it via coaching.
- 2 – ANOREXIA AND SELF MUTILATION AND OR RECLUSIVENESS: considered to be a ” professional person” especially amongst models and actresses who are to over-concerned about the way they look to others and don’t care about their health and how they want to feel or look like and sometimes even listen to the wrong people and what is expected of them as per their profession.
Here is a true case of medical professional treatment as coaching will not work as these types of patients do not see others ” not on their level like professional medical personal” as equals and will not take advice from coaches.
- 3 – SPLIT PERSONALITIES AND HARMING OTHERS: this is one of those conditions where you use both coaching and treatment as most end up in the legal system as the bad personalities that harm others or even themselves causes the person to end up in a state psychiatric lockdown facility where they can get treatment but coaching gets used not one on one treatments as other diagnoses as this is more effective in a group surrounding than the one on one as mentioned.
So if you or someone you have has one or more of the following, please take it seriously and convene ASAP, especially is number 1.
