Office Bookshelves: More Than Just A Place For Books

Every person needs a place for work tools. For many white-collar workers, this tends to be office bookshelves. This is not just a great storage space as it can also serve as a nice backdrop on video conferences. It is also not limited to books despite the name. You can put anything you want and need in your own shelves. This is especially true today when books are going digital and documents fly around online with electronic signatures. You can still display some of your prized books, of course. Consider placing the following in the empty space on your shelves:

Boxes Containing Smaller Items

Purchase cardboard or fabric boxes with their own dust covers. Use there to collect smaller items together so that you can have an easier time finding them if you need them. For example, a box may hold all of your computer accessories as well as your cables and dongles. Another can be for the things you use for your mobile phones, tablets, or DSLR camera. If you perform creative work, then you probably have tools for that as well. Find boxes that fit perfectly in each slot.

Reams of Paper for Printers

If you job requires you to print a lot of documents, receipts, and photos, then you will need to house reams of paper somewhere. The bottom of the office bookshelves may be perfect for the items because they tend to be heavy and bulky. They can help to anchor the storage unit with their weight. They won’t be an eyesore since they are not within the line of sight.

Trophies and Other Awards

For the upper levels, you want to place your most treasured possessions. These may include your trophies and other awards from school, from work, from sports, or from your hobbies. Anything that motivates you and makes you feel good about yourself should be displayed prominently in this space to boost your morale and remind you how awesome you are.

Creative Inspirations

The shelves may also contain some of your creative inspirations for your work. These could be replicas of famous buildings if you are an architect or a car if you are a mechanical engineer. These may even be figures from movies, TV shows, anime, or any other forms of media. These could include souvenirs from your travels or works of artists that you admire. You could also display your own creations on your shelves.
