Creating A Fitness Blog – Things To Know

If you are a fitness expert or training freak, fitness blogs are a great way to share your passion with the world and make some good money at the same time. Starting a fitness blog and creating an audience for it is no child’s play. But since the work revolves around a topic of your liking, you are most likely to enjoy the process. If you are just getting started, keep in mind the following. By the way, we shall not talk about hosting and content management systems for brevity’s sake.

Decide Your Niche

Fitness is a general term that could encompass multiple niches. Some are crossfit, yoga, triathlon, running, weight loss, self-care, and mindful eating. Ponder over the options and choose a niche that you would be comfortable writing about consistently. When you pick a niche, growth comes a lot more quickly. You may even opt to be a fitness or general wellness blogger and cover an array of topics. However, the downside with that is you’ll have a hard time establishing yourself as an expert.

Select a Blog Name

When choosing the name for your blog, consider a few things. If you are already an established expert within the fitness blogs, you may use your name as the blog’s name. Otherwise, you must come up with a catchy name that readers can easily remember. If your name is too unique or hard to pronounce or spell, not choosing your name as the blog name would be wise.

Start Writing and Publishing

After you have chosen the blog name, registered it, hosted the site and installed CMS, you are ready to publish your first post. Put your first post up as soon as possible. Do not spend too much time on the design of your site or getting it exactly the way you want it to, as you may do those things later.

Publish your first post and keep posting regularly. Remain consistent – create a weekly writing/posting schedule and stick to it religiously. If you have a full-time job, posting daily could be extremely tough. In such a case, ensure you publish at least once a week. Based on the depth and niche of your content, publishing anywhere between one to three posts per week should be doable.

Blogging is a long-term affair, as far as generating traffic and income is concerned. Therefore, the sooner you begin publishing content and amassing views, the faster your growth would be. Once you have taken care of the basics of setting up and maintaining blog, there is only time separating you and your inevitable success.
