Preamble
Fitness workouts are becoming a common phenomenon in the age of today. Workout sessions are now being conducted either in the gym, park or in the comfort of one’s own back yard. Fitness equipment being made affordable and available has made it easier for people to keep fit at any time. One is no longer restricted to the normal gym hours. This has seen to the rise in popularity of the Resistance Band Accessories.
Resistance band history
The uncanny similarity of the stretchy, handled rope type thing invented by Gustav Gossweiler to the present day resistance band may as well make Gustav the inventor of resistance bands. In 1895, Gustav introduced the “gymnastic apparatus” intended for physical fitness in Switzerland and had no significant advancements done until the 1960s when the band began to be used in physical therapy applications. It was not until the 1980s when resistance bands faced a major revolution resulting from the birth of upcoming companies which specialized in resistance band exercises. Rigorous research was done and put into use in developing new and better resistance bands not leaving out better exercises that could be performed. Recently, polymer resistance bands were approved, favoring the latex allergic people who were missing out on the resource.
Types of resistance band accessories
With the technological improvements, different types of resistance bands have been invented; such as:
Fit tube resistance band
It is made of heavy duty latex rubber with patent plastic handles on either end for gripping. Most models are accompanied by attachments for any door on one end. The variety range ensures one gets a decent upper and lower body workout.
Clip tube resistance band
Made from rubber latex and has slightly more accessories than the former. It has ankle cuffs, plastic handles on opposite ends and door attachments. Its design expands the location options from which one can work out in.
Flat and thin resistance band
It is about four feet long and varies in resistance which can be identified using special color-codes. This band is best for ankle and lower body workouts.
Resistance band colors
