Youth Leader Aditya Thackeray

Aditya Thackeray is a young Indian politician and youth leader. He is an elected member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and is the Cabinet Minister of Environment, Tourism and Protocol in the Maharashtra state government. He is also the son of the Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, and grandson of Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of the political party. Shiv Sena. While it is perfectly logical to purport that politics is in Aaditya Thackeray’s blood, this youth leader has always walked his own path.

Seeing the World in White and Black

The young scion has a Bachelor’s degree in history from Mumbai’s St Xavier’s College and a LLB degree from K C Law College. He is a poet, lyricist and a photographer. And while his father focuses on wildlife photography, Aaditya Thackeray enjoys capturing the subtle nuances of light and shadow. He believes that while poetry and photography allow him to share his unique worldview with audiences, politics gives him the opportunity to share his opinion and perspective.

In 2019, Aditya Thackeray successfully contested in the election for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Worli constituency. In doing so, he became the first Thackeray to contest and win the election. On his journey to becoming an elected MLA, Thackeray has been the President of the Yuva Sena and that of the Mumbai District Football Association. In 2018, he was declared leader of the Shiv Sena, and in 2019, the Cabinet Minister of Environment, Tourism and Protocol. In 2020, he also took on the responsibility as guardian minister of the Mumbai Suburban District.

Of Lineage and Heritage

A youth leader and a man of the people, Aditya Thackeray places great importance in his lineage and heritage. He is known to discuss important issues with his grandfather and frequently seeks his counsel. He encourages the youth of the country to come forth and work towards facilitating a social change.

The young minister is working towards keeping shops, clubs and restaurants open all through the day and night, so as to keep up with Mumbai’s growing work and play culture. The initiative will offer tourism a boost, as well as create employment opportunities. Aditya Thackeray is active on social media, and frequently reaches out to people and keeps them abreast of the government’s initiatives and on ground efforts. His commitment towards protecting the environment is evident in his implementation of policies to make Maharashtra free of single use plastic, and efforts to promote sustainable development in the state.
