Getting into a sauna can bring tremendous benefits. For some people, it is their way of relieving stress, cleansing the skin, flushing out toxins, and recovering from physical exertion. Athletes sometimes use them to sweat out fluids to lose weight or train for high heat. Whatever your purpose, saunas can be great if used well. You can go to a place that offers these facilities or create your own at home. Be careful about buying the right kind of heater. There are new technologies that are proving to be better than traditional ones including infrared sauna heaters. Look for the following during the selection process:
Low Surface Temperature
Studies show that long infrared waves are more effective than short ones. In order to achieve greater length, the temperature of the heater should be as low as possible. That is the first thing that you should check in the specifications. Old heaters may reach up to 600 degrees and glow red because of the heat. These new ones have maximum temperatures that are often below 200 degrees so they can provide the warmth without the overkill. They can also emit infrared radiation within the desirable range that optimizes absorption by the body. This means that energy efficiency is better as well.
Targeted Heating
Some of the older models will only work well if they are close to the body. You have to be within a few inches to get the benefits. They may also be too tall that they exceed the height of your head. Keep in mind that infrared sauna heaters travel in a straight line such that you can get the most benefit if the heater is directed towards your body. Anything in excess will only heat up the air which would be inefficient. Find something that focuses on your core while producing high quality infrared heat.
Front and Back Design
You shouldn’t have to spend lots of time in the sauna to achieve the benefits. After all, time is precious and limited for everyone. It would be best to find one that features front and back panels for simultaneous heating of the broadest body surfaces. This will result in a more balanced design and a faster increase in core temperature. Sadly, most of the saunas right now have only one panel that is usually aimed at the back. This may be for practical or aesthetic purposes.
Study your options carefully and get the best sauna heater you can find.
