Soccer requires explosive speed, tremendous agility, and excellent ball control. Each of these things need to be worked on during training. Players would do well to get their own soccer training set for home use. They can use this to supplement their training at their schools or clubs, allowing them to progress faster than their peers. Below are some of the vital components of a training set:
Agility Ladder
This is typically laid on the ground with players practicing fast movements as they move in and out of each square. It trains their fast twitch muscles and provides them with the stimulus to work on side-to-side movements. Ladders can also improve their precision as they have to work their way up the rungs evenly without stepping out of bounds. Endless variations of exercises can be performed.
Agility Cones
These cones are usually placed on the field to serve as markers for where the players have to turn. Instead of running in a straight line, they need to run diagonally to reach the cones at the left and right sides. The closer the cones are, the harder it will be to change direction while maintaining speed. It’s an important skill to master as they can use it to evade defenders when moving the ball forward.
Training Hurdles
Training hurdles are metal bars that go up to a certain height that allows players to practice on their jumps. It is just another way to improve their explosiveness. It also lets them simulate situations wherein a player may be down on the ground and they need to jump to prevent inflicting damage on the player and risking injury themselves.
Parachute Resistance
As the name implies, this looks like a small parachute that opens up when you run. You tie the end to your waist such that it drags you down and prevents you from running at your maximum speed. The wind resistance will be greater the faster you try to go. If you can successfully navigate courses with this on your back, then running without it will definitely be easier.
Solo Kick Trainer
This is a net basket where you place the ball inside and hold on to the handle which is about a meter long. This allows beginners to kick the ball for solo practice without having to worry too much about it rolling too far away. Training is thus more efficient and control can be gained at a faster rate.
A soccer training set is crucial to the development of young players.
