It can cause joint infection, blindness or a life-threatening blood infection in newborn babies.  Get a gonorrhea test for confirmation ( if you suspect you are infected).

 Treatment of gonorrhea in pregnant women as soon as it is discovered reduces the likelihood of these problems. Pregnant women should see their doctor for a thorough assessment, testing, and treatment if necessary.

 Gonorrhea can infect anyone who engages in sexual activity (without protection). Therefore, anyone experiencing genital symptoms such as discharge, burning during urination, or redness should immediately stop having intercourse and seek medical attention.
