These materials generally contain polypropylene although there are also brand named materials that work in the same manner.
Cotton gym clothes, on the other hand, work by absorbing the sweat, which means that they can become wet easily. Cotton however is a very soft material that feels good against the skin so although not recommended for aerobic or intense workouts it can be used for stretching, walking or light workouts.
Having chosen the material, you need to decide on the style. It is important to wear workout clothes that you feel confident in, so if you have you have areas of your body you are not as comfortable with and want to cover up, and then feel free to wear loser clothes.
There is a wide variety of pants available and as well as considering visual style, you need to think about your gym activities. If you are going to be working on machines such as the bike or step machine then you need pants that have more fit to avoid the bottom getting caught up in the machine. A stretchy type of pant is needed if you are going to participate in activities such as yoga.
