Camping is all about being prepared. It is never a good idea to go into the woods without some sort of game plan, and that means making sure that everyone going has been prepared for. The hardest campers to prepare for are the youngest, especially as they cannot plan for themselves and lack the experience and resources to properly plan for anything. This means that food, diapers, clothing, and even baby sleeping bags need to brought along with no idea what will be used and what will not last the first day.
Finding the Right Bag
Every parent has a different idea of what the perfect sleeping bag is, and that applies to babies as well. This means that while there a number of different ideas of what is needed, there are some commonalities. A sleeping bag needs to keep out the cold, deal with moisture, and keep the baby inside the bag; if it cannot do that then there will be potential problems. While keeping the cold out and the baby in is pretty obvious, the biggest issue is how the bag deals with moisture as it needs to keep rain and mists out, but needs to be able to deal with the child relieving itself inside the bag.
Other Concerns
A good bag should be easy to maintain; bags will get dirty and if they are difficult to clean then may get left behind, and that is a waste of an otherwise good bag. They also need to be good for whatever weather is going to be in the area at the time; if the temperature goes down to -20 degrees Celsius then a warm weather bag will be of debatable use. The sleeping bag should also be lightweight and easy to carry; even a baby should be able to carry its own sleeping bag; this ensures that everyone can bring their own bags to the camping spot as well as leave with it.
The best baby sleeping bags are therefore light, easy to clean, and suited to the weather that they will be used. If you have to prioritize on feature, definitely go for easy to maintain; this is a feature that you will definitely learn to appreciate the first accident that the child is responsible for. Of course, being cheap is good as well, especially considering how many of them most kids will go through. With all of this in mind, this should make shopping for one that much easier.
