Video streaming has gone mainstream. It is no longer a service confined to early adopters but a true household essential. Naturally, this has caused a scramble for the right hardware to support it. There are lots of options but the two most popular ones are the use of an Android box and the direct streaming from a smart TV. The first one is designed to be connected to an existing television. The second can run by itself as the box is built inside already. Here’s why you should opt for the first and not the second:
Cheap Streaming Solution
An Android box is far cheaper than a smart TV. You probably already have a television in your house so you can just buy the box and plug it into that unit. You won’t even have to shell out more than $100 for this in most cases, even for those made by known brands. If you were to purchase a smart TV, then you would need to shell out far more especially for larger screens. This would also waste your perfectly functional TV set. Both are going to provide the same results anyway so just go with the more financially sensible solution.
Easy to Upgrade
If you had an Android box, then you could easily upgrade as the technology advances. This would be like having a desktop PC where you have an awesome monitor that you keep while changing the tower from time to time to have better processing. Android boxes are far smaller so they are more readily detached. If your previous one topped at full HD, you can upgrade to a device that streams 4K flawlessly. If some new technology came along, then you could enjoy that without replacing your TV which might last for 10 years or more.
TV Focused on Display
When shopping for a new TV, you can focus on getting the kind of display your want instead of worrying about other specifications related to smart features. This vastly simplifies the process and allow you to focus on your viewing pleasure. For example, a plain flat screen LED TV at 55 inches is probably far more affordable than another one of the same size with smart technology. The first one might even come with a 4K screen while the other one is 1080p. You might be more keen on getting the high resolution. Let a separate Android box provide the streaming apps.
