Why Growers Are Shifting To Air Pots

Growing plants is a tricky business. Most people might think that all it takes is putting seed into soil and giving it some water. In reality, a lot can go wrong including pestilence, stunted growth, and withering. Even those that grow successfully will have different degrees of quality. This will affect their ability to produce flowers and fruits. There are many ways to enhance the quality of plants including the use of good soil, fertilizer, pest repellant, and so on. Growers have also been considering the use of air pots to achieve several benefits including the following:

Better Aeration

These air pots are peppered with holes all around. Unlike typical pots, they allow the soil to breathe and allow the living organisms inside it to thrive. It promotes the development of good bacteria and other beneficial elements. Better aeration thus gives plants a more nutrient-rich medium to grow in. they will grow healthier across time unlike in more restrictive containers that box everything in and suffocates the soil, including its very own ecosystem.

Excellent Drainage

The holes also provide ample drainage that prevents excess water from drowning out the plants. Seedlings are particularly vulnerable. They would benefit greatly from the removal of unnecessary moisture from the soil. It is difficult to gauge the right amount to sprinkle into pots so each should have way to regulate water levels. Typical pots will have perhaps three hole underneath, if at all. These help in water control but it may not be enough. Drops will slowly trickle out and much of the moisture will be retained. Too much and too little of anything can be bad. In this case, you might find that the plant will look wilted and there are no new growths. The roots might even rot which will eventually kill the plant. The soil will also turn green due to the growth of algae.

Improved Root Systems

The most important advantage of the air pots is the improvement in the growth of the root system. The containers is able to air prune the roots. This avoid root circling and encourages the development of highly desirable feeder roots. These are characterized by their fine fibers. They are able to gather the nutrients and water from the soil. More of them means bigger meals for the plants. They will grow faster, bigger, and stronger. They will be highly efficient at absorbing what they need from their environment. When it’s time to produce fruits, growers will enjoy higher quantities and better quality.
