Talented individuals can only go so far. If you want to move a business forward, you will have to make these people work as a team. Owners know this all too well and that is why every company encourages team building activities. This can be anything that allows the employees to learn about each other outside the workplace. The best ones provide challenges that develop teamwork and communication. It should also be fun so that the participants will take it as a positive experience and come out of it with high morale. Hiking is one of the best outdoor team building activities. If you are going to organize one, then make sure to consider the following:
Transportation
Since this is a massive activity with lots of participants, the logistics will have to be planned carefully. Hikes are often done in remote places so transportation requires special attention. Buses or vans may need to be rented for the trip. They could make stopovers at strategic locations along the way for meals, bathroom breaks, sightseeing, and more. After all, there are plenty of stunning sights around mountains creating photo opportunities. Get the final headcount in advance so that enough vehicles can be prepared for the journey. Take note of the possible travel times and make allowances for any delays.
Guides
On the foot of the mountains, there are usually small offices for the rangers and other forest workers. They may be able to provide guides for the whole group. These people are experienced individuals who have worked or lived there for years. They know every turn by heart so there should be no problems about people getting lost in the wilderness. They can show the right path despite meandering trails and river crossings. Their knowledge of the trail will also provide interesting commentary along the way about the history of the place and the dangers that should be avoided by the hikers.
Kits
Lastly, everyone who will participate in the activity should be responsible enough to prepare for the hike. This can be physically demanding. People should exercise so that they can have enough stamina to walk across the uphills and the downhills. They should also bring the necessary kits. These may include tents, cookware, and anything else that may be needed at camp. The participants can be divided into groups which each one having their own set of kit. They can assign the items to different members according to capacity. They should also make sure that they are wearing proper attire to prevent scratches, wounds, sunburn, or hypothermia.
